About Dr. Kartalian

Dr. George Kartalian, Jr. specializes in Orthopaedic Surgery and Foot & Ankle Surgery at Town Center Orthopaedics in Ashburn, Centreville, and Reston. Dr. Kartalian. has been practicing orthopaedic surgery since 1997.

Dr. Kartalian relocated to Northern Virginia from Texas, where he served as a team physician for professional hockey and football teams. As a foot and ankle specialist, Dr. Kartalian treats a variety of problems, including Achilles injuries, bunions, ankle sprains, fractures, tendonitis, and arthritic conditions. In addition to foot and ankle problems, he treats lower extremity disorders of the knee, hip, and lower leg.

He specializes in treating and preventing athletic injuries by emphasizing functional training and evaluating gait and shoe wear. When conservative therapies fail to relieve pain, Dr. Kartalian uses the latest surgical techniques, including arthroscopy and minimal incision surgery, to treat the problem.

After graduating from Hamilton College, Dr. Kartalian obtained his medical degree at the State University of New York at Buffalo, graduating magna cum laude. He then moved to Chicago, IL, for his orthopaedic surgery residency at Northwestern University. After his residency, Dr. Kartalian completed a foot, ankle, and lower extremity fellowship at the University of Maryland, Baltimore.
