Charles Seal, MD

Board-certified orthopedic surgeon

Dr. Charles N. Seal is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon, specializing in the treatment of degenerative and traumatic conditions of the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine. This includes degenerative conditions such as spinal stenosis of the cervical and lumbar spine, acute disk herniations, spinal instability such as degenerative spondylolisthesis, and spinal compression fractures.

Dr. Seal specializes in surgical and nonsurgical care of spinal conditions and works closely with Physical Therapists and Pain Management specialists at Town Center Orthopaedics, using the latest techniques to improve function, and decrease the likelihood of surgery. If surgery is required, he promotes minimally invasive techniques and motion preserving implants when feasible, allowing his patients to quickly return to their anticipated lifestyle.

Dr. Seal earned the prestigious President’s Endowed full academic scholarship to attend Texas A&M University, and played Varsity Football at Texas A&M, earning All-Conference Scholar Athlete awards each semester that he was on the football team. He also played Intercollegiate Rugby for Lancaster University while spending his junior year studying abroad. After graduating Magna Cum Laude, he went on to attend Wake Forest University School of Medicine.

Dr. Seal completed residency at the rigorous University of Maryland/R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma center in Baltimore, Maryland. After residency, Dr. Seal completed the Henry Bohlman Spine Surgery Fellowship at Case Western University in Cleveland, Ohio.

Dr. Seal has published numerous articles in Orthopaedics and Spine Surgery. He has spent the last 15 years in community practice with privileges at Fauquier Hospital and Haymarket Hospital. While at Fauquier Hospital, he served on several committees and served as Chairman of the Department of Surgery. He championed the Spine Program to help that facility achieve a Spine Center of Excellence designation, and brought Robotic-Assisted Spine Surgery to that area. He looks forward to bringing his skill set and clinical acumen to Town Center Orthopaedics and now has privileges at INOVA Fair Oaks Hospital and Reston Hospital Center.
